Families interested in adopting an older child, or a child with mental, physical, or emotional issues are invited to learn about the Community Care Services' Special Needs Adoption services. The goal of the program is consistent throughout--to help children address their problematic behaviors and achieve stable and healthy functioning lives within their communities, so that they can transition to a permanent home.
Community Care Services is committed to identifying, educating and supporting loving families who are willing to adopt a child or sibling group with special needs. These children may have experienced neglect or abuse, have complex medical needs, educational or behavioral problems or may have parents whose rights have not yet been terminated. Expenses in connection with Special Needs adoptions are often covered in full by the Department of Social Services, who is responsible for the child's care prior to placement in adoption.
